


Border Patrol agents took at least nine illegal immigrants into custody Monday after they were discovered hiding inside a Texas manhole.
The incident occurred around 10 p.m. after agents were made aware that individuals crossing the Rio Grande in the Laredo area had entered a sewer tunnel close to the river, according to a release by U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

"Agents proceeded to check several manholes and after an exhaustive search they were able to locate the subjects hiding inside a manhole on Santa Maria Avenue and Mann Road," the release read.

At least seven adults and two juveniles were discovered by agents, according to the release.

"After record checks were conducted on the individuals it revealed that they were in the country illegally from Mexico," the release read.
"The individuals were taken into custody for processing," it added.
