The national organization for Black Lives Matter is ripping a former Rhode Island BLM advocate's endorsement of former President Donald Trump as a "publicity stunt."
Trump lauded Mark Fisher, a purported co-founder of Black Lives Matter Rhode Island, as a "great guy" and declared he was "very honored to have his and BLM's support" in a Wednesday Truth Social post.

BLM's national organization derided the endorsement and labeled Fisher an "imposter," according to a report.
"This is a publicity stunt," BLM and the Black Lives Matter Rhode Island PAC, which is separate from the group Fisher is purportedly attached to, said in a statement.
To be clear, Donald Trump is a terrorist who committed treason and tried to subvert American democracy. He is no friend to Black people seeking to live in a just society. And we in NO WAY support him.https://t.co/fMiori1FDO

"The right-wing continues to use and amplify fringe Black voices to create an idea of broad support for their corrupt candidates."
Both BLM and the Black Lives Matter Rhode Island PAC made clear that Fisher is not affiliated with them, the report noted.
"Anyone can start an organization and add the words Black Lives Matter to it in an attempt to muddy the waters of our movement, as Mark Fisher tried to do," the statement read.

BLM also appeared to accuse the 45th president of treason in a separate post to X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter.
"To be clear, Donald Trump is a terrorist who committed treason and tried to subvert American democracy. He is no friend to Black people seeking to live in a just society," the post read. "And we in NO WAY support him."
