NextImg:Blinken, the Bidens, and the liberal media now all look corrupt

Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s dealings involving presidential son Hunter Biden are beginning to smell awful. So, in turn, do the refusals of the liberal media and the Justice Department to show real interest in Hunter Biden’s apparent corruption.

What also smells is the role of now-President Joe Biden.

HIGH-PROFILE REPUBLICANS CALL ON BLINKEN TO RESIGN OVER UNTER BIDEN LETTER

The tawdriness of the axis of Joe Biden, the intelligence community, and the media has been evident for years. Way back on Oct. 23, 2020, I wrote that “if the establishment media did its job,” it would ask a series of very specific questions of the elder Biden about already unearthed facts regarding the Biden family’s “rampant overseas profiteering.” Among them:

“Why did you meet in the White House with [Devon] Archer, the felonious partner in most of your son’s business dealings … two months after you became the Obama administration’s point man on Ukrainian policy, two days after Archer became a board member for the Burisma energy company, and the same day Burisma made more than $100,000 in payments to the firm of Archer and your son? This meeting came one week before you met with Ukraine’s prime minister and less than a month before Hunter joined Burisma’s board despite having no relevant experience.”

Furthermore, I wrote the media should ask Joe Biden this: “When your own aide, Amos Hochstein, warned you in 2015 that Hunter’s position on Burisma’s board risked undermining United States policy in Ukraine, why did you not recuse yourself as the administration’s point man on diplomacy with that nation?”

That column came four days after more than 50 “former senior intelligence officials” signed the now-infamous letter saying Hunter Biden’s laptop contents probably were Russian disinformation.” In the last week, we have found out that Blinken himself helped catalyze that letter, which from the very start was obviously, flagrantly dishonest.

Now we find that one good reason Blinken might have wanted to treat the laptop’s contents as trash was because he was personally involved with Hunter Biden during the Burisma timeline to which some of the laptop materials referred. To quote today’s Fox News reporting: “Secretary of State Antony Blinken held a meeting with Hunter Biden at the State Department in July 2015 when he was serving as deputy secretary of state in the Obama-Biden administration and Hunter was on the board of Ukrainian energy firm Burisma.”

The meeting obviously involved an issue related to Hunter Biden’s partner Archer because the former forwarded to Archer the series of favorable replies Blinken and his scheduler sent. Before the eventual meeting took place, Blinken’s wife, an assistant secretary of state, provided Hunter Biden with Blinken's personal e-address. It was one of many email exchanges among Hunter Biden, Blinken, and Blinken’s wife.

By this time, nobody at the State Department should have been meeting with Hunter Biden or Devon Archer. Earlier that year, a top U.S. diplomat in Ukraine, George Kent, directly told officials in Joe Biden’s office that the Burisma board position raised serious questions of conflicts of interest. Kent again raised that point in September of that year, and Hochstein (see above) soon raised the same concerns directly with the vice president.

Blinken’s behavior was outrageous. The deputy secretary of state usually should not be granting private work meetings with a member of a board of a controversial foreign company. This is especially so when that board member is the son of the vice president, who by then was well known to be spearheading administration policy toward that company’s notoriously corrupt nation. And this isn’t even to mention all the other hugely lucrative business Hunter Biden and Archer already were conducting with other foreign businesses, including ones that were obvious affiliates of the Chinese Communist government.

The stench of mutual back-scratching and potentially deleterious influence on U.S. foreign policy is overwhelming.

Yet with all this going on, Joe Biden did not recuse himself from Ukrainian policy. He also kept meeting with Hunter Biden’s business associates, reportedly more than a dozen times. And he let Hunter Biden hop on board Air Force Two itself, basically allowing the vice presidential plane to be used as a shuttle service for his son to use to meet with Chinese business officials working on a deal worth $1.5 billion.

Yet again and again, all of this attracts nothing but yawns from a liberal media nodding off to sleep for 30 months now and mere winks from a Justice Department that refuses to act. Winking, Blinken, and nods might make for good children’s poetry, but in the media-government realm, they stink like rotting herring.
