The Chicago Blackhawks organization announced the team will forgo wearing rainbow Pride jerseys Sunday when they host the Vancouver Canucks.

The decision not to wear the jerseys during the team's warm-up was made for player safety concerns for Russians on the team, according to a report.

NHL PLAYER SKIPS WARMUPS, REFUSES TO WEAR PRIDE NIGHT JERSEY

A recent law in Russia banned all "gay propaganda" and made it illegal for Russians to "praise" LGBTQ activities and relationships in all mediums, the report noted.

Nikita Zaitsev, Philipp Kurashev, and Anton Khudobin are at least three Russians within the Blackhawks organization.

"The Chicago Blackhawks organization is proud to continue its annual Pride Night celebration, an evening — alongside year-round efforts — fueled by partnership and LGBTQIA+ community engagement," the team said in a statement. "Together, our activities will focus on fostering conversation and more equitable spaces in our pursuit to make hockey more inclusive. We do not condone anti-LGBTQIA+ rhetoric, and we stand firmly with the community."

"While we know gameday celebrations like these are an important way we can use our platform to bring visibility, it is the work we do together 365 days a year that can create true impact in ensuring all of our colleagues, fans and communities feel welcomed and safe within our sport."

Although the players will not wear the rainbow jerseys, the Blackhawks will celebrate gay pride at the game.

The Chicago Gay Men's Chorus and DJ Zel will perform at the intermissions, and a "Glam-boni" will feature among various LGBTQ-themed decorations.
