The White House said Friday that President Joe Biden‘s symptoms remain but are improving during his third day in COVID-19 isolation in Delaware.

The president tested positive for the coronavirus on Wednesday while campaigning in Las Vegas, and he’s been quarantining at his home in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, since Wednesday night.

White House physician Dr. Kevin O’Connor published a memo giving an update on Biden’s condition Friday afternoon.

“President Biden completed his fourth dose of PAXLOVID this morning. His loose, nonproductive cough and hoarseness continue to be his primary symptoms, but they have improved meaningfully from yesterday,” O’Connor wrote. “His pulse, blood pressure, respiratory rate and temperature remain absolutely normal. His oxygen saturation continues to be excellent on room air.”

“The President continues to tolerate treatment well. We will continue PAXLOVID as planned. In the meantime, the President continues to do the work of the American people,” O’Connor continued. “As promised, I will keep your office updated with any changes in his condition or treatment plan.”

Both Biden and Jen O’Malley Dillon, the chairwoman of the president’s 2024 reelection effort, said Friday morning that he would be back on the trail next week, but a growing chorus of Democratic lawmakers calling for him to leave office swelled to more than 30 on Friday.

Reports have indicated that the president could drop out of the 2024 race as early as this weekend, but Biden remains publicly committed to being nominated by Democrats next month.
