President Joe Biden’s executive order was allegedly supposed to shut down the southern border at midnight Tuesday, but after a full day of crossings it is now obvious that nothing has changed on the ground.

“I’m lost. Even the higher-ups don’t know what to do fully yet,” one Border Patrol agent told the Washington Examiner.

In Jacumba, California, Bill Melugin of Fox News reports that 12 full hours after Biden’s order allegedly went into effect, “mass illegal” crossings of Colombian and Venezuelans were still taking place.

The memo prepared to implement Biden’s executive order preserves all the same loopholes illegal immigrants currently use to secure their catch and release into the United States. And from the reporting at the border it does not appear that rank-and-file agents have been told to do anything different from what they were doing before.

And so the migrants continue to illegally flow across the border, just as before.
Biden’s border order seems to be yet another completely ineffectual action taken solely to provide Biden’s defenders a talking point without actually accomplishing anything. Like his Gaza pier to nowhere, Biden’s border order pleases no one and changes nothing.
