NextImg:Bidenomics not resonating with voters pessimistic about the economy: Poll

As President Joe Biden continues to push his economic agenda, a majority of voters remain pessimistic about the state of the economy, according to a new CNN poll released Thursday.

The poll found 51% of respondents say the “economy is still in a downturn and conditions are continuing to worsen,” compared to 48% of voters who are more hopeful.

According to the poll, it appears Bidenomics is failing to resonate with most voters even though record inflation has decelerated and the economy continues to add more jobs. Despite the improved conditions, Americans are not buying the White House’s political message that Biden was responsible for bettering the economy.

Only 37% of poll respondents approved of the president’s handling of the economy, whereas 63% disapproved. Additionally, 30% approved of his handling of inflation and 70% disapproved.

While Biden continues to tout his own efforts in reducing the national economic crisis, public perception along with voters’ financial pessimism could affect his 2024 reelection chances. Biden’s overall approval rating comes down to 41% in support and 59% at odds with the president.

The CNN poll was conducted by SSRS from July 1-31 among a sample size of 1,279 adults nationwide. The poll had a margin of error of 3.7 percent.
