While Democrats keep fearmongering about former President Donald Trump’s supposed plans for a power grab, President Joe Biden keeps reminding the country that he is the wannabe authoritarian he warns Trump is.
Biden is desperate to stir up any enthusiasm among Democratic voters and activists as his cognitive decline has made it clear he is incapable of serving as president for the next few months, let alone four more years. As a result, Biden is planning on endorsing a Supreme Court power grab, the kind of thing that Democratic politicians talk about to try and rile up activists who believe the Supreme Court should be another tool for Democratic politicians.
Biden’s plan reportedly includes term limits for justices, which is an attempt to force out Republican-appointed justices after the Democratic Party’s political miscalculations changed the makeup of the court for a generation. For reference, Clarence Thomas is the oldest and longest-tenured justice on the court, and he is still five years younger than Biden and was confirmed to the court a full 18 years after Biden started serving in the Senate.
Biden’s plan also reportedly includes an “enforceable” code of ethics, which is Democrat-speak for being able to force justices the party doesn’t like off of cases based on the flimsiest of pretenses so it can get its way on Supreme Court rulings while only having three activist justices on the court. This is the same Biden who regularly and openly boasts about defying Supreme Court rulings and is sympathetic to people in his party who want to pack the court with liberal justices.

But sure, let’s talk about a think tank’s “Project 2025” that would propose the horror of — gasp — giving the head of the executive branch more control over departments in the executive branch rather than Biden’s plan to take over the judicial branch. What is the real power grab here?
Biden has broadcasted his authoritarian intentions in office far more regularly than Trump did because authoritarianism is the impulse of the Democratic Party when it does not get its way. All of the Democratic rantings about the Supreme Court are guided by that same impulse. This is yet more proof that Biden’s cognitive decline isn’t the only reason he is unfit to be president.
