President Joe Biden will host a state dinner with President Yoon Suk Yeol of South Korea in April, highlighting the “ironclad” strength of the alliance, the White House said.
Biden’s press secretary said the visit will celebrate the alliance between the U.S. and South Korea, which she called “critical to advancing peace, stability, and prosperity for our two countries, the Indo-Pacific, and around the world.” The state dinner at the White House on April 26, 2023, will be Biden’s second since taking office.
“President Biden and President Yoon will highlight the importance and enduring strength of the ironclad U.S.-ROK alliance as well as the United States’ unwavering commitment to the ROK,” Karine Jean-Pierre said in a statement Tuesday. “The Presidents will discuss our shared resolve to deepen and broaden our political, economic, security, and people-to-people ties.”
The visit marks the 70th anniversary of the U.S.-South Korea alliance and comes amid heightened tensions in the Asia Pacific region.
