President Joe Biden quipped about his age while playing host to the 2022 World Series champions, the Houston Astros, at the White House.
The country's oldest president, 80, made the comment to Astros manager and former Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Dusty Baker, 74.

"People counted you out, saying you’re past your prime," Biden said on Monday in the East Room. "Hell, I know something about that."
Having returned to the White House after a week at Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, Biden appeared relaxed, even joking about the Astros's 4-2 series win last fall over the Philadelphia Phillies, first lady Jill Biden's team.
“My name’s Joe Biden. I play center field," the president introduced himself. “Put me in, coach. I’m ready to play,” he said after he was presented with a customized jersey.
Biden also praised the Astros for supporting members of the Uvalde, Texas, community affected by the Robb Elementary School shooting last spring, during which 21 people were killed.
“I think you athletes underestimate how much hope you give," he said. "This team said to the community that day, 'You're family, you're neighbors. We want to do whatever we can to help you get through this process.'"

Biden has increasingly turned his age into a punchline before next year's elections, with polls indicating even Democrats are concerned about his advancing years.
“I know I don’t look that old,” Biden said during a gun reform event in June. “I’m a little under 103.”
