President Joe Biden's reelection campaign is looking to prevent former President Donald Trump from gaining support from union workers by using the former president's own words against him.
The Biden-Harris 2024 campaign's X account posted a video using quotes from Trump with the caption, "Let’s remember what the last guy thinks of American workers," as it tries to maintain support from union workers.

"I know the unions. They're dues-sucking people," one quote from Trump said.
"They get their little 5%. They get another 2%. They get another 3%, 4%. Then, all of a sudden, they're making more money than the people that own the company," another quote from Trump used in the video said.
The video concludes by declaring Trump "anti-union" and "anti-worker."
Union workers have traditionally been a safely Democratic voting group, but the GOP under Trump has increasingly tried to appeal to the voting bloc in several key swing states including Ohio, Michigan, and Pennsylvania.
During the United Auto Workers strike, Trump attempted to appeal to union members by saying that "no president has ever fought harder for autoworkers than President Trump" and touted his accomplishments for autoworkers during his presidential term. He also held a rally in Michigan opposite the second Republican presidential debate, where he tried to court union workers further to vote for him.

Biden has worked to shore up support among the union by becoming the first president to speak on the picket line at a UAW strike in Detroit. At the picket line, he told workers to "stick with it."
The president has also embraced the UAW, even as the labor union has yet to make an endorsement in the 2024 race. UAW President Shawn Fain has indicated that Trump would not get his union's endorsement, trashing the former president as bad for workers, but has yet to give Biden the group's endorsement either.
