White House physician Kevin O’Connor released an update on Joe Biden‘s condition Thursday, showing little change in the president’s symptoms following Wednesday’s COVID-19 diagnosis.

The president was forced to cut a campaign trip to Nevada short Wednesday afternoon after testing positive for the coronavirus.

“The president is still experiencing mild upper respiratory symptoms associated with his recent COVID-19 infection,” O’Connor wrote in a memo distributed Thursday by the White House. “He continues to receive Paxlovid. He does not have a fever, and his vital signs remain normal. He will continue to conduct the business of the American people.”

O’Connor additionally wrote that “with the president’s permission,” he planned to continue providing regular updates on Biden’s recovery.

Biden’s coronavirus infection forced him to cancel a speech at the UnidosUS annual conference Wednesday, but he told reporters while departing Nevada that he felt “good.”

Still, Biden’s illness comes at a particularly critical time for his candidacy, as Democratic power players continue to come out of the woodwork and publicly call on the president to gracefully exit the 2024 race.

During an interview with BET News earlier this week, Biden suggested that one factor that could end his reelection bid is being diagnosed with a new medical condition or disease that makes continuing his campaign impossible.

A Democratic pressure campaign for Biden to exit the 2024 race has persisted ever since his poor debate performance last month, in which he failed to ease concerns about his mental acuity.
