President Joe Biden was ripped by CNN commentators following his disastrous performance in the first debate. They said the biggest issue in the election was abortion, and Biden could not give an answer on it. He failed to mention abortion in his closing statement, where many hoped he would attack former President Donald Trump’s rhetoric on it. All Biden said on abortion was that we need abortion because “lots of people are raped by their in-laws and sisters.” He transitioned the debate then so that both candidates were talking about illegal immigration.
Since the overturning of Roe v. Wade, Democrats have done well in elections when they were able to focus on abortion. They swept the 2022 midterm elections with what was described as a “blue wave.” One commenter, “I don’t know a voter under 30 who would watch tonight and vote for Joe Biden.” Biden’s inability to talk about the issues or even land a coherent punch was sad to watch. He couldn’t deal with Trump’s statement in any way that responded or created a clash that helped him. It was a failure of his debate prep and was frankly sad to watch. His handlers deserve to be charged with elder abuse. Biden is clearly struggling with his health and should not be put back into power.

The Democrats are in full-scale panic as commentators self-described as believing Trump is a threat to democracy failed to reassure Democratic voters of his fitness to be the President. CNN commentator David Axelrod put it best: “It is one night that confirmed people’s fears.” The Democrats are scared because tonight showed the difference in acuity between the two candidates. Chris Wallace echoed the same sentiments for Biden when he said, “He sunk his campaign tonight.”
Commentator and former member of the Bush administration Scott Jennings summarized the normal American response to the debate when he said, “We need to pray for the president.” He showed that the continuous statements from the White House on the president’s great health have all been a lie.
