President Joe Biden was not aware of the latest revelations involving his son Hunter Biden, the White House said Wednesday.
“The president has never done business with his son,” White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said. “He was not aware of this. For anything further, I would have to refer you to Hunter Biden’s personal representatives.”
The New York Times reported that Hunter Biden sought assistance from the U.S. government for a profitable energy product in Italy while his father was vice president in the Obama administration. Hunter Biden was a board member of Ukrainian gas company Burisma at the time, according to records the Biden administration had previously withheld for years.
“The Hunter Biden documents seeking state department help came out after the president was no longer a candidate,” a reporter asked during the afternoon news briefing. “Is the president bothered by that at all?”
Jean-Pierre repeated that the president was not involved in business with Hunter Biden and was not aware of the latter’s request.
“This is something that Hunter Biden has to speak to,” she said. “He’s a private citizen. It is something for him to focus on. I’m just going to have to leave it there.”

Another reporter asked if the president would instruct Vice President Kamala Harris not to pardon Hunter Biden if she’s elected.
“That’s a hypothetical,” Jean-Pierre responded. “I can speak for the president. And he said he would not pardon his son.”
