NextImg:Biden narrows down short list of candidates to lead 2024 campaign

President Joe Biden has narrowed down the list of top contenders to lead his reelection campaign, finalizing the key details of his 2024 run before announcing a second White House bid.

Although Biden has not yet announced a reelection bid, he is widely expected to do so in the coming months. Biden has repeatedly hinted at running for a second term, telling reporters last week he’ll announce his decision “when I announce it.”

DEMOCRATIC GROUP WARNS ABOUT ‘SPOILER’ THIRD-PARTY TICKET THAT COULD HAND TRUMP THE PRESIDENCY

President Joe Biden announces his administration's plans to eliminate junk fees for consumers, Oct. 26, 2022, in the South Court Auditorium on the White House campus in Washington.

Here are the top candidates Biden is considering tapping to lead his campaign:

Jenn Ridder, national states director for Biden’s 2020 campaign

One of the top choices for Biden is Jenn Ridder, who led Biden’s presidential campaign in 2020 as the national states director, according to the Hill.

Ridder has worked in national campaigns for well over a decade, helping to elect Gov. Jared Polis (D-CO) in 2019 and serving on both of former President Barack Obama’s presidential campaigns. Ridder also worked on Sen. Mark Udall’s campaign, who was elected to office in 2009.

Sam Cornale, executive director of the Democratic National Committee

Biden is also considering tapping Sam Cornale, who serves as the executive director of the Democratic National Committee, the outlet reported.

Cornale was elevated to the top DNC position in 2021 as the party prepared for the competitive 2022 midterm cycle. Before that, Cornale helped manage the DNC during the 2018 and 2020 election cycles.

Biden considering other candidates to fill senior staff

While Biden zeroes in on who should lead his reelection campaign, the president is considering other candidates to make up his senior staff.

Included on that list is Emma Brown, who worked as Sen. Mark Kelly’s campaign manager during the 2022 cycle; Addisu Demissie, who headed Sen. Cory Booker’s presidential campaign in 2020; Quentin Fulks, who served as Sen. Raphael Warnock’s campaign manager last year; and Julie Chavez Rodriguez, who worked as Biden’s deputy campaign manager in 2020 and currently serves as a senior adviser in the White House.

Biden’s team hopes to fill all its positions by April, when the president is expected to announce his reelection campaign, the outlet reported. However, some sources deeply involved with the process say it could take longer, as the search has been ongoing for months, and his team has hit a few logistical hurdles.

“It’s all coming together, but as usual, things run on Biden time,” one source told the Hill.
