President Joe Biden suggested that Russian President Vladimir Putin might be connected to the deadly plane crash that is believed to have killed Wagner Group boss Yevgeny Prigozhin.

Russian state media reported Wednesday afternoon that Prigozhin, who led a military uprising against Putin's regime earlier this year, was one of 10 people killed in a plane crash in the Tver region near Moscow.

Biden was asked about the reports of Prigozhin's death while vacationing in Lake Tahoe, Nevada. He and First Lady Jill Biden were taking pilates and cycling classes Wednesday afternoon, according to the press pool.

“You may recall, when I was asked about this by you, I said I’d be careful what I rode in. I don’t know for a fact what happened but I’m not surprised," the president told reporters.

"There’s not much that happens in Russia that Putin's not behind," Biden added when pressed on whether the White House believes Putin was behind the crash. "But I don’t know enough to know the answer. I’ve been working out for the last hour and a half."

Prigozhin's name was listed on the flight manifest but it is not known if he actually boarded the flight.
