A Department of Homeland Security official was put on leave after a report that they had previously worked for the Palestinian Liberation Organization.

A DHS spokesman told the Washington Examiner that Nejwa Ali had been placed on administrative leave. Ali and the DHS came under fierce criticism from congressional Republicans and pro-Israeli figures after it was revealed that she was reportedly formerly a spokeswoman for the PLO.

She was also found to have made inflammatory comments about Jews, a Daily Wire investigation found, drawing widespread outrage.

“F*** Israel and any Jew that supports Israel,” she wrote on her Instagram page shortly after this month's Hamas terrorist attacks that killed over 1,200 Israeli civilians.

“Palestine will be free one day. F*** APARTHEID Israel and any Israeli that supports that bulls***. F*** you, may Allah forgive you. and spare us the crocodile tears, I sure as hell give zero f***s,” she wrote in another post on Instagram.

Before today, Ali worked as an adjudication officer for the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, a job that includes vetting people before they enter the United States.

Following the news of Ali being placed on leave, Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) demanded further information.

"Now explain how she got hired in the first place, and what laws she broke by advocating for terrorism as a government employee," he wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Ali's employment with DHS became the focus of several congressmen after her inflammatory statements were made known.

"The U.S. Gov’t Hired A Pro-Hamas PLO Spokeswoman To Handle Asylum Claims," Rep. Dan Bishop (R-NC) said. "Unacceptable and deeply disturbing. We'll be getting answers."

When contacted by the Daily Wire, particularly regarding whether she had told the DHS about her PLO ties, Ali reacted in a hostile manner.

“That’s none of your f***ing business. Mind your business before I call the police. If I were you I’d respectfully hang up the phone right now,” she was quoted as telling the outlet.

She similarly dismissed concerns about her views on Israel affecting her work with the American government, saying, “That does not affect the ability to do my job at all. You can mind your own business.”
