President Joe Biden downplayed a recent slate of polls that show him trailing former President Donald Trump in several key swing states in a hypothetical 2024 presidential matchup.
Biden, speaking outside the White House en route to an event in Illinois, responded to a question from Fox News's Peter Doocy, who initially asked why "people should be more concerned about abortion access than your age," to which Biden responded that he "doesn’t think it’s a comparable comparison."

Doocy's follow-up question asked the president why he is trailing Trump in several swing states. Biden responded that Doocy was cherry-picking the polls, saying he is leading Trump in more polls than he is trailing him.
"You don’t read the polls. There are 10 polls. Eight of them, I’m beating him. You guys only do two. CNN and New York Times. Check it out. We’ll get you a copy of all the other polls," Biden responded.
When another reporter asked if he believed he is trailing in battleground states, Biden responded, "No, I don't," before walking away to take questions from other journalists.
A New York Times-Siena College poll released over the weekend showed Trump leading Biden in five of six swing states just a year from the presidential election. The survey, taken from Oct. 22 to Nov. 3, shows Trump up 52% to 41% in Nevada, up 49% to 43% in Georgia, up 49% to 44% in Arizona, up 48% to 43% in Michigan, and up 48% to 44% in Pennsylvania. The poll showed Biden leading Trump 47% to 45% in Wisconsin.

Of the six states, Trump won all but one, Nevada, in 2016 but then lost all six to Biden in 2020. If the election were held today with those results in the six swing states, with all other states remaining the same from 2020, Trump would beat Biden in the Electoral College 302-236.
Regarding the 10 most recent national polls compiled by RealClearPolitics, Biden leads Trump in two, with a pair of them showing the two tied and the remaining six showing Trump with a lead over Biden.
