During an ABC World News Tonight interview with David Muir, President Joe Biden pushed back on questions about his own comments calling former President Donald Trump "irresponsible" last year when the FBI searched his Mar-a-Lago residence amid having presidential documents in boxes in his own garage and old office.
"That one word you used when you hear about boxes in your garage or in your old office, you called the Trump discovery 'irresponsible.' Is there something irresponsible here, though, too?" Muir grilled the president in an interview Friday night.

"You know, you're a good lawyer, but you're trying to make a comparison," Biden responded.

"There's degrees of irresponsibility that are — they can be significant degrees of responsibility. The way in which the boxes were packed up from my office; apparently, not everything was gone through as meticulously as it should have. But there was no intention," he said.
Biden went on to explain how he "opened up" his permanent home and beach house to investigators for "hours and hours."
He called his situation "fundamentally different" from the former president.
"There's nothing for me to hide," Biden told Muir.
He contends that everything he has been asked to do, he did "voluntarily."
"I’ve invited the Justice Department to come into every aspect of any place that I had any control of. There was no need for search warrants. … What do you need? Just come. Whatever you want, whatever you want, wherever you want to go, you can go. That was totally different," he explained.

The Justice Department has special counsel Jack Smith conducting an investigation into the former president while special counsel Robert Hur is investigating whether Biden had improperly handled sensitive government documents.
The wide-ranging interview with Muir included questions about the U.S. spending on Ukraine and the toxic Ohio train derailment.
