President Joe Biden took a shot at former President Donald Trump on Thursday over his Christmas Day "wish" for special counsel Jack Smith and other Biden allies.
On Monday, the former president posted a message on Truth Social accusing Smith, Biden, and others of "coming after" him while accusing "thugs" in the Democratic Party of "looking to destroy our once great USA."

"Rot in hell," Trump wrote. "Merry Christmas."
The Biden campaign issued a statement condemning Trump's post and a second post reiterating Trump's vow to replace Obamacare, and the president echoed those lines on Thursday.
"There’s an expression they say in church sometimes," Biden wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter, accompanied by a story detailing Trump's comments. "Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you."

"The American people voted to protect fundamental freedoms, like the right to choose. They voted to protect democracy," the president, who is vacationing in the U.S. Virgin Islands with family, added in a second tweet. "They voted against MAGA extremism. They voted for the progress we’ve been making — and we'll continue that progress in 2024."
Biden trails Trump in the RealClearPolitics polling aggregate and will face a score of political headaches, not limited to growing dissatisfaction with his handling of the Israel-Hamas war, when he returns to Washington in the new year.
