Democrats appear to be better off with President Joe Biden at the top of the ticket in 2024 than having Vice President Kamala Harris be the Democratic nominee.
A poll from Redfield & Wilton Strategies shows that Biden leads both former President Donald Trump and Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL), but Harris falls to Trump in a 2024 matchup.

Biden holds a narrow lead over Trump, 44%-43%, in a rematch of the 2020 presidential election, whereas a Biden-DeSantis matchup shows the president leading the GOP governor 47%-33%, with 11% saying they are undecided.
In a matchup between Harris and Trump, the former president leads the current vice president 42%-39%. The pollster did not include a matchup between Harris and DeSantis.
The survey also shows Harris trails in job approval rating when compared to Biden, with the president showing a 40% approval rating while the vice president holds a 36% approval rating.
The popularity gap between Biden and Harris has been dubbed as a potential "liability" for the campaign, with Harris's popularity among Democrats also seeing a dip, according to polling data.
Despite Harris's lower approval ratings, she was still prominently featured in the video announcing the Biden-Harris reelection bid last month.
Harris was also seen at the Tuesday meeting at the White House between Biden and congressional leaders on resolving the debt ceiling, with White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre saying that Harris has "been a partner" in the negotiations.

"She has been consulted multiple times on the budget on preventing default. This is something where the president clearly respects her view," Jean-Pierre said when asked about the vice president's role in the talks.
On the Republican side, Trump has maintained a lead over the entire field of candidates, including DeSantis, but the Florida governor is the closest behind the former president. DeSantis has not announced a 2024 campaign but is expected to do so as soon as next week.
