Ben & Jerry’s shared a petition from the American Civil Liberties Union on Tuesday asking social media users to sign it to show their support for “gender-affirming care.”

The petition was shared on the ice cream brand’s social media account on the eve of the Supreme Court hearing oral arguments on Tennessee’s Senate Bill 1, a law barring puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and surgeries for minors, and whether it violates the equal protection clause of the 14th Amendment. The ACLU’s petition says states such as Tennessee banning medication to transgender youth has threatened the “well-being” of children and their families.

TRANSGENDER CARE FOR MINORS GETS FIRST SUPREME COURT REVIEW: WHAT TO KNOW

“This week, the Supreme Court is hearing a landmark case about gender affirming care for trans youth,” Ben & Jerry’s wrote on X. “Sign the petition TODAY and support continued access to gender affirming care.”

The company has been no stranger to vocalizing its leftist views on major topics, as it issued a call on the Fourth of July last year for people to “recognize that the US exists on stolen Indigenous land and commit to returning it.” This year, Ben & Jerry’s co-founders Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield debuted a new ice cream flavor called “Kamala’s Coconut Jubilee” under the brand Ben’s Best to motivate people to vote for Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 election.

As of Tuesday morning, the ACLU’s petition has received over 170,000 signatures. The organization has also stated its lawyers will deliver its arguments inside the Supreme Court while having people rally outside the court.

Wednesday morning will also see the organization Do No Harm rally outside the Supreme Court to voice its support for Tennessee and state Attorney General Jonathan Skrmetti. Detransitioner Chloe Cole, an advocate against transgender procedures for children, will be one of the main speakers at the rally, which will begin at 8 a.m.

“8am tomorrow at The Supreme Court steps, we will usher in the final stage of the fight against the transitioning of minors,” Cole wrote on X. “This is the most successful political movement of the 21st century.”
