NextImg:Barr calls Trump a 'narcissist' who shouldn't use nation as 'a therapy session'

Former Attorney General Bill Barr went on the record to call former President Donald Trump a "consummate narcissist" and discourage the Republican Party from making him its presidential nominee.

Barr appeared on CBS News's Face the Nation Sunday to share his thoughts on the now-indicted former president. Trump is facing 37 charges regarding his mishandling of classified documents following his presidential term, which Barr said, "he had no right to."

"The legal theory by which he gets to take battle plans and sensitive national security information as his personal papers is absurd," Barr said. "It’s just as wacky as the legal doctrine they came up with for, you know, having the vice president unilaterally determine who won the election."

Barr had, as recently as May 2022, directed U.S. attorneys to pursue any and all allegations of election fraud during the 2020 election, only to ultimately admit there was no evidence of fraud by June of that year and that the outcome of the election could not be changed.

Trump, according to Barr, acts like a "defiant 9-year-old kid" and a "consummate narcissist" in that he "constantly engages in reckless conduct." Barr predicted he will always put his own personal ego in front of the nation, and suggested Republicans ask themselves if a man such as him should be the leader of the free world.

"Our country can’t be a therapy session for a troubled man like this," Barr said of Trump.
