Barack Obama applauded President Joe Biden for his work as president, saying he will continue to deliver for Americans "once he's re-elected" in 2024.

Obama praised his former vice president on Twitter on Tuesday, a few hours after Biden announced his 2024 presidential campaign.

WHY DEMOCRATS THINK BIDEN CAN WIN IN 2024 DESPITE MAJOR OBSTACLES TO HIS REELECTION

"Proud of all that @JoeBiden and his administration have accomplished these last few years. He’s delivered for the American people — and he’ll continue to do so once he’s re-elected," Obama said. "Let’s get to work!"

Biden's announcement ended months of speculation about his political future. At 80, he is the oldest president to serve in the White House and, so far, he is the only major Democratic presidential candidate with significant political experience.

A poll released on Monday determined that only 26% of respondents wanted Biden to seek a second term, with 69% of voters citing Biden's age as a factor. However, a majority of Democrats say they would support Biden if he was the nominee.

The president's second campaign will be managed by top White House aide Julie Chavez Rodriguez and headquartered in Wilmington, Delaware, with wealthy donors gathering in Washington on Friday. Quentin Fulks, who ran Sen. Raphael Warnock's (D-GA) campaign, will serve as Biden's principal deputy campaign manager.

Biden's campaign co-chairs include Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D-MI), Reps. Jim Clyburn (D-SC), Lisa Blunt Rochester (D-DE), Veronica Escobar (D-TX), and Sens. Chris Coons (D-DE) and Tammy Duckworth (D-IL), as well as Jeffrey Katzenberg, a leading Democratic fundraiser and former CEO of DreamWorks.

In his campaign video, Biden warned against MAGA Republican extremism, drawing criticism from Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA). The president accused the group of wanting to cut Social Security, cut taxes for "the wealthy," and dictate healthcare decisions for women.
