The amount recipients receive varies based on several factors, including the number of people filing. Individuals, for instance, can receive up to $967, couples filing together can receive $1,450, and essential people providing necessary care to SSI recipients can receive up to $484.

Beyond the previous prerequisites for receiving SSI payments, recipients must also be either U.S. citizens or noncitizens in one of the alien classifications granted by the Department of Homeland Security.
