“He was disoriented with multiple injuries all over his body,” Gameti said. “But he seems to be out of danger.”
Vidhi Chaudhary, a top state police officer, said the man was in seat 11A. The Hindustan Times reported that the survivor is a 40-year-old British national. He sustained “impact injuries” on his chest, eyes, and feet.
The outlet said it spoke to Ramesh in a local hospital, where he said that “Thirty seconds after takeoff, there was a loud noise and then the plane crashed. It all happened so quickly.”
Ramesh said he was visiting family in India and was returning to the United Kingdom with his brother, Ajay Kumar Ramesh, 45, who was sitting in a different row. He said he did not know if his brother survived the crash.
Chaudhary noted that there could be more survivors in the hospital.
India’s aviation regulator said the flight made a mayday call to air traffic control shortly before the crash. The plane was airborne for about a minute before it crashed into a local medical college.
Chaudhary additionally told Reuters that approximately 294 have died as a result of the crash.
