At least four people were killed and at least five have been hospitalized after a shooting occurred at Abundant Life Christian School in Madison, Wisconsin.

The shooting was reported around 11 a.m. local time, according to police. The gunman, who police say is a juvenile, is also dead. Additional deaths may be reported.

The injured victims’ conditions were not immediately clear. Madison police officers are working to reunite students with their families at this time.

“I’m not going to give any information about who the victims are, whether they’re students, staff or parents, because we need to make sure that we can notify people,” Madison Police Chief Shon Barnes said at a news conference.

According to the school’s website, there are about 390 students from kindergarten through high school. More than 50 staff are listed on its directory. The school is nondenominational.

Public schools in the area activated the Madison Metropolitan School District’s “Standard Response Protocol,” which guides when schools should be on lockdown or evacuated.

“I am closely monitoring the incident at Abundant Life Christian School in Madison. We are praying for the kids, educators, and entire Abundant Life school community as we await more information and are grateful for the first responders who are working quickly to respond,” Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers wrote.

Last week, a gunman shot two kindergarten students at a Christian school in California. The gunman similarly died from what police believe was a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
