Incoming Sen. Ashley Moody (R-FL) looked back on the actions former President Joe Biden took against border security in the White House, which turned him into “a trafficker-in-chief” through his leadership.
President Donald Trump took numerous executive actions targeting the border on his first day back in the White House, including declaring a national emergency at the border and ending the Biden administration’s “catch-and-release” policy with illegal immigrants. Moody reflected on one of the first actions Biden took as president, informing local law enforcement officials to release illegal immigrants arrested “on serious felonies” back into their communities.
WHO IS ASHLEY MOODY, MARCO RUBIO’S SENATE REPLACEMENT?
“This reversed precedent under Democrat and Republican administrations,” Moody stated on Fox News’s America’s Newsroom. “It was one of the first suits that we brought, and it was frustrating because the courts told us states, ‘You don’t have standing to sue, you can’t sue.’ So we have an administration that dropped the ball, just let people into our country, released those committing crimes into the communities, then we had the courts saying that the states couldn’t sue for that.”
Moody said the Laken Riley Act, passed by the Senate on Monday night, addresses the matter of states being unable to sue, as the bill is all but guaranteed to become law once it gets to Trump’s desk. She also commended Trump for fulfilling his promises to secure the border and keep the nation safe.
“We have a commander in chief back in the White House that puts prosperity and safety for Americans first,” Moody said.

Moody is taking the Senate seat previously occupied by former Sen. Marco Rubio, who was confirmed Monday as secretary of state for the Trump administration. She expressed excitement at Trump’s “incredible Cabinet.”
In announcing Moody as Rubio’s replacement in the Senate, Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) cited his relationship working with her over the last six years as Florida’s attorney general and that she “understands the gravity of the moment” the nation is in to “usher in that revival of the American experiment.” Trump has promoted starting “the golden age of America” in his inauguration speech, with the aim to make the country “flourish and be respected again all over the world.”
