A homeowner in Ohio briefly detained a burglary suspect at gunpoint on Sunday and helped police detain a pair of accused criminals.

The incident occurred when the homeowner, who holds a concealed carry permit, caught one of the alleged suspects attempting to break into his garage safe, according to a release from the Butler County Sheriff's Office.

"Homeowner had caught suspect #1 trying to cut into a safe located in the attached garage," the release read.

That suspect, identified as 29-year-old Raymond Flack, was held for a time by the homeowner at gunpoint until he managed to flee and meet up with the second suspect, identified as 29-year-old Emily Bush.

"[Flack] fled on foot and met up with [Bush] that was driving a white ford truck," according to the release. "Deputies were able to locate the truck on Trenton Franklin road and conducted a felony stop."

"Both suspects were taken into custody, the victim came to the scene and made a positive identification of the suspect."

The homeowner was praised for his or her actions, and the sheriff's office warned against future crimes.

"If you plan to conduct this type of criminal behavior in our county, beware because we will be waiting for you," Sheriff Richard Jones said.

Flack and Bush were charged and taken to Middletown City Jail.
