Gov. Katie Hobbs's (D-AZ) chief of staff resigned Thursday in the latest high-profile resignation to plague her administration.

Allie Bones was a longtime friend and staffer of Hobbs, according to the Washington Post. She had served as chief of staff since Jan. 2.

"After four and a half years of public service with Gov. Hobbs, Bones will be leaving her position to pursue new opportunities. Her departure comes after a historic budget agreement that makes historic investments in critical areas like housing, infrastructure, and education," a statement from Hobbs's office, obtained by Fox News 10, said.

The statement added that Bones's resignation is effective immediately and that her successor will be chosen next week. No reason was given as to why she resigned.

The resignation comes after that of Hobbs's press secretary, who came under fire for Twitter posts seemingly threatening "transphobes" with violence following the massacre of Christian schoolchildren and staff by a transgender shooter.

The Washington Examiner reached out to Hobbs for comment.
