Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) reiterated her criticism of Israel after being called out by former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley.

On Tuesday, Ocasio-Cortez was one of just nine Democrats to vote against a resolution expressing the United States's support for Israel, in addition to labeling the country as "racist" or an "apartheid" state. Haley, a vocal supporter of Israel, listed the names of the nine Democrats on her Twitter, promising to "remember their names." The New York Democrat didn't waver, however, mocking Haley's list and reaffirming her criticism of Israel.

"Oooh, a list!" Ocasio-Cortez tweeted. "Remember to call it 'People in Congress who think apartheid is wrong' or alternatively, 'People in Congress who don’t ignore human rights abuses against Palestinians.'"

Haley had earlier called for the censure of Ocasio-Cortez and her fellow "Squad" members in a speech at the Christians United for Israel conference.

"[Biden] has AOC and the Squad in his party," Haley said Monday. "And just this week, a leading Democrat called Israel a 'racist state.'"

"The Democratic Party is the definition of extreme," she continued. "It’s time to censure the Squad and get antisemitism out of America — for good!"

While Ocasio-Cortez and eight other Democrats voted against the resolution reaffirming support for Israel, she was not joined by the overwhelming majority of Democrats, 192 of whom voted in favor of it.

The resolution was prompted when, during a panel discussion with the progressive Netroots Nation, Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA) emphasized their shared goal of “fighting to make it clear that Israel is a racist state.” The comment led to a wave of backlash, prompting her to issue a retraction in which she stated that she doesn't believe Israel is racist but was simply trying to defuse a tense situation.

Despite the resolution coming as a result of her comments, Jayapal voted in favor. Fellow Squad member Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) came to her defense over the original comments, denouncing what she called the "policing" of Jayapal, claiming it was due to her being nonwhite.

"We spend too much time policing the language of Black and brown women who speak out against oppression and not enough time ending the oppression of Black and brown people," Omar tweeted in response to Jayapal's retraction.

"I am also deeply concerned about the shaming — often of women of color — when they speak out about human rights violations happening in Palestine and Israel, especially when similar concern is not expressed for the lives being lost and families being torn apart."
