Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ) expressed concern that the debt ceiling agreement struck over the weekend represents a "new coalition" in which House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) would "go to Democrats more than his own party."
In an appearance on Fox and Friends, Biggs joined a growing group of conservatives in criticizing the debt ceiling negotiations between McCarthy and President Joe Biden. McCarthy may have to turn to Democratic votes if more conservatives join the revolt against the deal, a prospect that worries Biggs.

Co-host Peter Doocy asked the Arizona Republican what he thinks will happen with McCarthy.
"Well, you know, Steve, I can’t predict what will happen with Kevin," Biggs replied. "I know there’s a lot of dissatisfaction. I’ve been focusing on the bill and trying to get the word out on what I think are the problems with the bill. It’s hard to say what’ll happen with Kevin.
"I’m more concerned what’s going to go on with the trajectory of the term, because does this represent a new coalition and a new trajectory where the speaker’s going to go to the Democrats more and more to try to put forward whatever he thinks his agenda ought to be? And that’s really concerning to me, and I think it should be concerning to members of our conference," he continued.
Biggs added that he strongly disagreed with the sentiment that Republicans got more out of the deal than Democrats.

"I don’t view this as a victory for us," he said. "I view this as kind of a very, as I said yesterday, it’s a monstrosity. I think it’s a real problem and will be a continuing problem for us as it careens us down over the debt cliff. Sooner rather than later, you got to turn your spending curve down and this bill does not do that."
Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) suggested on Tuesday that McCarthy could face a motion to vacate if he relied on Democrats to push through the bill, a prospect Rep. Dan Bishop (R-NC) has shown support for.
