A former aide of former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo compared a controversial social media post from a state assemblywoman to a controversial statement from Cuomo, claiming she and the state lawmaker took away "different lessons" from Cuomo.

New York Democratic lawmaker Jenifer Rajkumar claimed she was made up of all 200 distinct ethnic origins that New York City comprises in a post to the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, on Tuesday.

Lindsey Boylan, a former aide who previously claimed Cuomo sexually harassed her in 2018, implied that the post resembled controversial remarks that the former governor had made at a press conference in 2017.

"As a New Yorker, I am a Muslim. As a New Yorker, I am Jewish," Cuomo said in response to an order from former President Donald Trump that banned entry to the United States from several Muslim-majority countries. "As a New Yorker, I am black, I am gay, I am disabled, I am a woman seeking to control her health and her choices because as a New Yorker we are one community and the New York community is composed of all of the above."

Boylan claimed in a post to X that Rajkumar's statement showed just how different their takeaways from their time working for Cuomo were.

"We both worked for Andrew Cuomo. I’ve known for some time that we took away entirely different lessons," Boylan posted alongside an image of Cuomo's archived speech. "This barely scratches the surface."

Rajkumar's post was in response to a question from a local reporter, who asked on X whether the assemblywoman was an "honorary" member of every nationality in the city because she frequently visits the mayor's mansion. The question comes after the city's Democratic mayor, Eric Adams, claimed the assemblywoman was an "honorary Dominican."

"NYC is home to people from over 200 distinct ethnic origins. And I am ALL of them," Rajkumar, who represents Queens, replied.

Rajkumar was chosen by Cuomo to serve as his director of immigration affairs and special counsel for the New York Department of State in 2017, and she was elected to the State Assembly in 2020. She was also chosen by Adams to be part of his transition team when he was elected as the mayor of New York City in 2021.
