The View's Ana Navarro expressed on Monday that she is happy to see Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) join the 2024 presidential race. However, her delight hinges on the fact that he is a black man.
"I’m also happy he’s in the race because I think there is such a dearth of melanin in the Republican Party and also of optimism and unity," she said.

According to her, "I really welcome somebody that speaks like Tim Scott, looks like Tim Scott, has lived the life of Tim Scott, to be on that stage with a different message — even if I disagree vehemently."
Sara Haines also noted that "for the Republican Party, who is very rarely diverse, you’ve got Vivek Ramaswamy, an Indian American man of Hindu faith, an Indian American woman, Nikki Haley. You've got two black men."
Sunny Hostin did not see his candidacy in quite the same light. "I don’t know who his message is supposed to resonate with, actually," she said.
"He’s talking about victimhood and personal responsibility as if people aren’t taking responsibility for their own actions," she added. "It just seems to me that the Republican Party has a real racism problem."
Whoopi Goldberg also expressed displeasure with his push for personal responsibility in a new video. "He came out and did that dog whistle. 'Victimhood.' As soon as you say that, you know what he’s talking about. I didn’t like that," she told her co-hosts.
"I don’t like the idea that he’s got this idea that people don’t take responsibility for what they do," Goldberg said. "That’s why I said, 'Listen, you should talk to your party first because they didn’t take responsibility.'"

Scott launched his 2024 bid for the White House on Monday morning, explaining that although "our president is weak ... America is not a nation in decline."
In Morning Consult's most recent Republican primary election tracker poll, Scott only has 1% of support from likely Republican primary voters. The current front-runner, former President Donald Trump, enjoys 61%.
