Actress and comedian Amy Schumer appears to have left the highly anticipated Barbie movie in its early production because it was not feminist enough.
Schumer, 42, was slated to star and write for the film but walked away from the project shortly after development had begun in 2016, according to a report.

Her angle was "a fish-out-of-water tale about a woman who gets kicked out of Barbieland for not being perfect enough," according to one description, the report noted.
"They definitely didn’t want to do it the way I wanted to do it, the only way I was interested in doing it," Schumer, who was set to work on the project with Sony, said.
Her Barbie would have been a creative, with inventions including a gadget high heel constructed from Jell-O, according to the report.
"The idea that that's just what every woman must want, right there, I should have gone, 'You've got the wrong gal,'" she said.
The official reason for Schumer's departure was "scheduling conflicts," and the comedian said she looks forward to seeing the film, which now stars Margot Robbie.

"I can’t wait to see the movie, it looks awesome," she told Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live.
"You know, there's a new team behind it, and it looks like it's very feminist and cool so I will be seeing the movie."
