Fresh off of one of the biggest attempted injustices in recent American criminal history, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg cannot be trusted to lead the prosecution of the man who allegedly shot UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.
Luigi Mangione has been arrested and charged with the murder of Thompson. Mangione was captured while in possession of a gun, a suppressor, multiple fake IDs, and a three-page document detailing his thinking behind the shooting, including the reported quote that “these parasites simply had it coming.” Mangione was charged with multiple crimes relating to his arrest in Pennsylvania, but he will face murder charges in New York.
Specifically, Mangione will face murder charges in the borough of Manhattan, which is under Bragg’s jurisdiction. This comes on the heels of Bragg’s attempt to ruin the life of Daniel Penny, a former Marine who put a violent homeless man named Jordan Neely in a chokehold to prevent him from attacking women and children in a subway car. Police video of witnesses interviewed after the incident all supported the fact that Neely was violently threatening passengers. Penny was, thankfully and rightfully, acquitted of criminally negligent homicide.
It is entirely fair to conclude that Bragg tried to ruin Penny’s life because he was white and Neely was black. Any pretense of Bragg being seriously concerned about public safety has long been disregarded as he regularly downgrades criminal charges to best let actual violent career criminals out of jail as soon as possible, including one instance of giving an accused rapist a plea deal with a sentence of just 30 days behind bars. Bragg even had his prosecutors dismiss the charge of second-degree manslaughter against Penny as the jury was deliberating to try and coax them into convicting Penny of the lesser charge of negligent homicide. Bragg seemed absolutely desperate to make an example of Penny and ensure that he be put behind bars while real criminals run free.

Bragg has constantly manipulated the criminal justice system to try and get whatever outcome he thinks fits his political agenda. That includes his disgraceful prosecution of Penny and other people who have tried to protect themselves from criminals who Bragg has let roam free. It includes his open-door policy that has seen Bragg put criminals back on the streets as quickly as possible in the name of “reform.” It even includes his political prosecution of President-elect Donald Trump based on a legal theory that had no grounds in reality.
As such, Bragg has proved that he can’t be trusted to handle the cold-blooded killing of Thompson, with all the political implications of his pro-criminal “reform” stance as well as the left-wing view of health insurance executives such as Thompson. Bragg is incredibly likely to botch this one way or another, whether it be intentionally or incompetently. He belongs nowhere near this case or the criminal justice system in general.
