An Alabama man has been charged with transmitting interstate threats toward Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis and Fulton County Sheriff Patrick Labat over the indictment of former President Donald Trump in the Peach State.
Arthur Ray Hanson, II, was indicted by a federal grand jury after he allegedly made threats against Willis and Labat on Aug. 6 ahead of the former president's indictment on Aug. 14. The threats were made in voicemails to both officials in which he warned that some "bad s***" would happen to them if they indicted Trump.
COURT CHALLENGES TO KEEP TRUMP OFF 2024 ELECTION BALLOTS BEGIN IN TWO STATES
“If you think you going to take a mugshot of my President Donald Trump and it’s going to be OK, you going to find out that after you take that mugshot, some bad s***’s probably going to happen to you,” Hanson said in a voicemail to Labat.
Hanson's threat to Willis warned her that she "can’t be around people all the time that are going to protect you."
“When you charge Trump on that fourth indictment, anytime you’re alone, be looking over your shoulder,” Hanson said in the voicemail. “What you put out there, b****, comes back at you 10 times harder, and don’t ever forget it.”
U.S. Attorney Ryan Buchanan, who prosecuted the case, warned against threats to public officials, saying that it "potentially weakens the very foundation of our society."
“Sending interstate threats to physically harm prosecutors and law enforcement officers is a vile act intended to interfere with the administration of justice and intimidate individuals who accept a solemn duty to protect and safeguard the rights of citizens,” Buchanan said in a statement.
“When someone threatens to harm public servants for doing their jobs to enforce our criminal laws, it potentially weakens the very foundation of our society. Our office will labor tirelessly with our federal, state, and local law enforcement partners to help ensure that law enforcement officials are free to serve our communities without the threat of physical attack,” he added.

Hanson is set to be arraigned in Atlanta, Georgia, on Nov. 13. He was indicted on Oct. 25, with the indictment being unsealed on Monday.
Trump and 18 others were indicted on racketeering charges in Fulton County in August, with Willis accusing them of trying to "seize" a presidential term by attempting to overturn the results of the 2020 election. The former president pleaded not guilty, while four of the charged people have accepted plea deals.
