Rep. Al Green (D-TX) is facing at least three GOP-led censure resolutions after he was ejected from the House chamber during President Donald Trump‘s joint address to Congress.

Rep. Dan Newhouse (R-WA) introduced his censure resolution against the Democrat on the House floor on Wednesday afternoon, which notes that Green “repeatedly violated” decorum after he continuously yelled “You have no mandate” at Trump and waved his cane at the president.

The resolution was noticed as privileged, which requires leadership to act on it within two legislative days. A vote could come as early as Thursday.

Newhouse, who is one of the last two centrist GOP lawmakers in Congress who voted to impeach Trump, denied this resolution is a way to rebuild his relationship with the president and his allies.

“This is about the House of Representatives, Congress, and respecting the rules of decorum that we have,” Newhouse said after introducing his resolution. “This is bigger than a particular relationship. This is about the House of Representatives.”

He added that his resolution has Speaker Mike Johnson’s (R-LA) blessing because he was the first member to bring the idea to him. Other reports indicated Newhouse spoke to Johnson about it Tuesday night after the address.

Newhouse’s resolution is not the only one Green could face. Two other censure resolutions, one from Rep. Troy Nehls (R-TX) and one from the House Freedom Caucus, led by Rep. Eli Crane (R-AZ), are also expected to come out on Wednesday.

Nehls’s resolution details that Green should be censured for “his disruptive and disorderly conduct,” according to draft text obtained by the Washington Examiner. The resolution argues Green “remained defiant” despite being reprimanded by Johnson, which forced the speaker to ask the sergeant-at-arms to escort the Democrat out of the chamber.

His resolution has 24 co-sponsors as of 12:30 p.m. Eastern time, including some members of the Freedom Caucus, per a source familiar with the matter.

Johnson told reporters on Wednesday it is the “first one outta the gate,” so it makes sense to move forward with Newhouse’s resolution.

“I think it’s unprecedented, certainly in the modern era,” the speaker added. “It was a planned, prolonged protest.”

DEMOCRATIC PROTESTS OF TRUMP ADDRESS DEFY JEFFRIES REQUEST FOR ‘DIGNIFIED’ RESPONSE

Crane told Punchbowl News that he is fine with that decision and does not care who leads the censure.

Republicans have successfully led censure initiatives against House Democrats, including Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), former New York Rep. Jamaal Bowman, and now-Sen. Adam Schiff (D-CA). GOP lawmakers attempted to censure Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) last year.
