Democrats always insist that, when they push gun control, they aren’t coming for anyone’s guns. If you listen to what they are saying and what incidents they are referencing, however, there is no way to come to any other conclusion.
Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT) has never seen a corpse he isn’t willing to stand on to sell his gun control, and his latest example is the shooting at an ICE facility in Dallas. Both Murphy and “comedy” host Stephen Colbert made the gun control pitch once again after the shooting, where a man targeting ICE officers shot into an ICE van and killed one illegal immigrant. This comes after Murphy also used the assassination of Charlie Kirk to push gun control, as did Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) and multiple gun control groups.

DALLAS SHOOTING SUSPECT JOSHUA JAN WANTED TO ‘GIVE ICE AGENTS REAL TERROR’: FBI
The problem here is that both of these shootings were committed with bolt-action rifles, the very kind of rifles that Murphy and other gun control advocates insist they don’t want to ban. The gun used to kill Kirk is, according to liberal NBC News, “favored by hunters who prize them for their durability, reliability and accuracy” and is “ideal” to “take down medium to large game like deer, elk and even bear.” The gun used in the Dallas ICE shooting was an 8mm variant of the same rifle. These are precisely the kind of hunting rifles that are supposed to be off the table according to gun control advocates.
In fact, here is a quote from Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) as part of a press release from Murphy: “Assault weapons have only one practical purpose – to slaughter human beings. These military-style combat weapons are designed to maximize death and destruction. No self-respecting hunter uses one” (emphasis added).
CHRIS MURPHY SAYS TRUMP IS TRYING TO ‘EXPLOIT’ RECENT POLITICAL VIOLENT ACTS
It is all a rhetorical game for the gun-grabbers of the Democratic Party. ‘You don’t need an AR-15 for hunting’ is a manipulation tactic because Democrats also want to push gun control after high-profile shootings that involve guns that are used for hunting. They claim no one is coming for your guns, and then call for gun confiscation programs. It does not matter the type of gun or the circumstances of the shooting: Democrats just really want to ban guns.
There is no movement (except perhaps the climate movement) that is more insincere and more duplicitous than the gun control movement. Gun-grabbers like Murphy are always looking for any excuse to roll the ball on gun control, no matter the proposal, trying to manipulate people emotionally about whatever violent incident is in the news. It isn’t about problem-solving; it is about taking away people’s guns.
