Actor Jason Bateman slammed the supporters and voters of President Donald Trump during a podcast interview with MSNBC host Nicole Wallace, claiming that Republicans, and Trump supporters particularly, keep themselves insulated from the truth.

Bateman made the remarks recently on an episode of Wallace’s “The Best People with Nicole Wallace” podcast. In his criticism of Republican and Trump voters, the Arrested Development star attacked the trustworthiness of Fox News, its viewers, and the aforementioned voters, claiming that they comprise a group of people who purposely ignore reality and facts. Bateman also hosts a podcast, “Smartless” with Will Arnett and Sean Hayes.

“But the truthtellers, or whatever book all the facts sit in from day to day, there is no attempt to hide that from the Republican voters,” Bateman said. “It is ubiquitous. You have to make a real effort to stay insulated from the facts and common sense. It’s everywhere, except on Fox, or Breitbart, or whatever the hell the spots are.”

The Teen Wolf Too star admitted that he is addicted to watching the president and is enamored with his words.

“I joked earlier about the ‘Trump Show,’ I’m addicted to,” Bateman said. “I really am fascinated. I can’t stop watching. The things that he does and the things that he says, and marry that to the fact that there are 80-some million people that would vote again for him tomorrow, is just a social phenomenon, a political phenomenon, that I just can’t get my head around.”

The Ozarks star continued explaining his curiosity about Trump supporters, yearning to know their motivations for supporting the president. He acknowledged some of the Trump voter grievances but also admitted he didn’t fully understand them. He also suggested that those who voted for him might be among the most affected by his policies during his second term.

“And I don’t want to ignore it. We are all neighbors; we all share this country together. I want to understand it,” Bateman said. “And I know that there’s genuine dissatisfaction with their standing in life or the system and whatnot. And so that’s legit. I’m sensitive to that, and I respect that.”

He then remarked about those voters who might have ulterior motives for supporting Trump.

“But whatever section there is that is kind of doing it just to ‘stick it to the libs,’ it’s not schadenfreude,” Bateman added. “But, I am curious to see what they’re going to do when eggs keep going up, and gas keeps going up. Again, I’m not wishing harm on anyone, but it’s tragic.”

“I think the people who are least equipped to bear what the Trump administration is going to yield are a lot of the folks that voted for him,” Bateman said. “And that’s really frickin’ sad, ya know?”
