An activist organization dedicated to helping illegal immigrants evade Immigration and Customs Enforcement allegedly warned an illegal immigrant convicted of raping a child of the federal agency’s presence in the area, which allowed him to elude its agents.
Jose Reyes Leon-Deras was apparently on ICE’s radar when the Colorado Rapid Response Network, or CORRN, alerted him of the agency’s presence, according to a press release issued by the Department of Homeland Security. The DHS said, due to the group’s alleged intervention, the convicted child rapist, who was in the country illegally, was able to escape.

“After an anti-ICE activist group helped Jose Reyes Leon-Deras, a convicted child rapist, evade U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement law enforcement, the Department of Homeland Security is warning the public to be on the lookout for this criminal illegal alien,” the release said.
“On June 20, 2025, ICE attempted to arrest Leon-Deras, and members of the Colorado Rapid Response Network alerted Leon-Deras of ICE’s presence and facilitated his escape,” DHS noted. “The Colorado Rapid Response Network is known for protesting with bullhorns to warn illegal aliens and shouting profanities at ICE law enforcement officers attempting to arrest dangerous criminal illegal aliens.”
According to its website, CORRN is “committed to responding to raids, deportation, and any Immigration Customs Enforcement activity happening across the state in our communities.”
So, essentially, it can be surmised that it interferes whenever possible to prevent ICE agents from enforcing federal laws under a misguided allegiance and devotion to protecting people in the country illegally.
Assuming everything mentioned above about Leon-Deras is true, CORRN’s efforts are just the latest example of how these radical, pro-illegal immigrant organizations prioritize dangerous criminals over the safety of innocent people. There is no excuse to help a convicted child rapist flee justice. This holds true regardless of immigration status. There are bad people, and there are good people; convicted child rapists are bad people. We don’t want them in the country. No one should.
Quite frankly, this is abhorrent. It is one thing to support immigrants in the country illegally with no criminal records. While I believe people here illegally should not be permitted to remain, there is some rational logic from people who support such things. However, there is absolutely no logic for supporting illegal immigrants with criminal records, especially horrific crimes such as raping children.
But as dangerous as these criminal illegal immigrants are, it can be legitimately argued that any organization or activist group aiding and abetting these people represents a larger threat to the country’s safety. They are well-funded organizations that encourage people to break federal laws by assisting criminals in avoiding justice, causing them to wreak havoc in communities further, and exhausting valuable law enforcement resources because of their interference. They are zealous, ideologically driven enterprises predicated on tearing down the country’s legal infrastructure.
“The Colorado Rapid Response Network and its 760 members disrupt ICE operations targeting dangerous criminal illegal aliens. In this case, they helped Jose Reyes Leon-Deras, an international fugitive, and convicted child rapist, flee law enforcement — this dangerous monster is on the loose on American streets and could harm more innocent children,” said Tricia McLaughlin, assistant secretary for public affairs at the DHS.
THE WEB OF RADICAL GROUPS BACKING ICE RIOTS, HAMAS, AND IRAN
It’s despicable enough to advocate an unchecked immigration system, but it’s outright fanatical to support dangerous criminal illegal immigrants’ free access to the United States.
Furthermore, McLaughlin is right. The nation should heed her words. She describes one organization, but her words apply to many, if not all, groups and activists that interfere with enforcing federal immigration laws. And, as it is well known that such actions threaten our nation’s safety, it should be emphasized that they also represent an existential threat to the country’s survival.
