Washington Examiner columnist Joe Concha condemned ABC News’s “activism” against the Trump administration but predicted that it will continue.

ABC News received major backlash after senior national correspondent Terry Moran claimed in a deleted X post that White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller is “a man who is richly endowed with the capacity for hatred,” and “a world-class hater.” Miller said Moran’s statement reflects how “privileged anchors and reporters” are actually “radicals adopting a journalist’s pose,” an assessment Concha agreed with.

“And here’s the thing: Until leadership changes at ABC News, this could continue to go on because the person who runs ABC News, Sandra, her name is Dana Walden,” Concha explained on Fox News’s America Reports. “She has contributed to Kamala Harris’s campaigns in the past, she has hosted parties for Kamala Harris at her house, and she’s running the news division when, clearly, she is a Democrat.”

Concha also pointed to the presidential debate that ABC News hosted in September 2024, in which President Donald Trump was asked five follow-up questions and given six fact-checks, whereas former Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic presidential candidate, did not receive either. Nine months later, Moran’s comments against Miller mark “Exhibit A” in why trust in the media is so low, Concha said.

Moran has been suspended in the wake of his viral X post, with ABC News issuing a statement claiming the network stands for “objectivity and impartiality.” Concha, however, pointed to data indicating that 92% of Trump administration coverage from ABC News, CNN, and CBS News has been negative, despite Trump’s net-positive favorability among the public.

Trump’s administration has taken multiple steps to change its press access since he returned to the White House, including inviting podcast hosts to these briefings. Concha predicted that more changes will come, suggesting that more reporters with different viewpoints are “always a good thing.”

In December 2024, ABC News reached a $15 million settlement with Trump to drop his defamation suit. Trump filed the suit after anchor George Stephanopoulos claimed in an interview with Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) that the president had been found liable for rape, rather than sexual abuse.
