White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre declined to comment Friday on recent comments made by CNN's Don Lemon regarding women but said the subject should be addressed by the appropriate parties.
Lemon, responding to former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley's calls for competency tests for older politicians, said on-air Thursday that "Haley isn't in her prime, sorry." Haley is a candidate for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination.

"When a woman is considered to be in her prime [is] in her 20s, and 30s, and maybe 40s,” he said, earning stark rebukes from his female co-hosts. Lemon later apologized and did not appear on Friday's broadcast.
"You know, I'm not going to comment directly to that. That is something clearly that needs to be addressed," Jean-Pierre said when asked during Friday's briefing about Lemon's comments before defending Biden's own record of hiring "diverse voices."
"When you look at this president's administration, and we have talked about the numbers before, there are more women in his senior staff role than men," she said. "So, what I want to say is just watch his actions. Watch what he's done."
"I think all you have to do is look at the numbers. Look at the people around him. Look what he has been able to do. Look how he's lifted up different communities, including women, and I'm just going to leave it there. It is clearly, truly a priority for him, and I'll just leave it there."
