The White House hit back at President Joe Biden's critics after former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley proposed introducing a mandatory competency test for politicians older than 75.

“They said he couldn’t do it in 2020, and he beat them,” press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre told reporters Thursday. “Maybe they are forgetting the wins the president has had these past couple of years, but I am happy to remind them.”

HALEY TRIES TO CREATE HER OWN GOP PRIMARY LANE WITHOUT STOKING IDENTITY POLITICS

Haley made the pitch during her campaign launch for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination. Biden is 80, and former President Donald Trump, Haley's only declared opponent, is 76.

Haley's proposal coincides with polling that captures concerns among Democratic voters about Biden's age. Biden would be 82 for his second inauguration should he announce his candidacy for reelection and win next year's election.

Her idea also coincided with Biden's planned annual physical examination on Thursday with doctors at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center outside of Washington.

"The exam was straightforward," Jean-Pierre added. "Hopefully, in a couple of hours, later today, we'll have a comprehensive written report from his doctors."

During her rally in Charleston, South Carolina, on Wednesday, Haley repeated her calls for "a new generation of leadership."

"America is not past our prime. It's just that our politicians are past theirs," she told supporters. "We won't win the fight for the 21st century if we keep trusting politicians from the 20th century."
