Roseanne Barr said she believes comedy is a threat to a “cowardly” woke culture.

“I think comedy is a big part of the target because comedy’s so powerful,” Barr told Gutfeld! on Tuesday. “The fact that we can laugh at them really upsets them, and they want to put an end to that. They don’t want us to laugh at them because it’s so powerful to be able to laugh at them, to scorn, and I guess they’re just so cowardly they can’t just do it.”

In her new Cancel This! stand-up comedy special now streaming on Fox Nation, Barr vowed to help protect free speech and save comedy from cancel culture.

“It’s my first shot to explain myself and kind of come back and, you know, kind of even the score with the massive idiots and hypocrites who tried to f*** my life over — but with jokes,” Barr said.

“I dug really, really deep into my soul to find the most offensive way of saying the things I want to say because I think it’s very important that we try to preserve free speech in America,” she continued. “I believe that by being offensive to the most offensive people and power structure that’s ever existed in this country, I’m doing my part.”

Barr also highlighted an irony she sees in the comparison between words and violence, saying, “What happened to sticks and stones will break my bones, but I’m going to bash your face in if you say anything, you know, bad. I’m going to ruin your life and make sure you’re never going to work again if you say the wrong word.”

Barr’s return to comedy premiered on Fox Nation on Monday.
