


Former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley is set to hold her first campaign event one day after she launched her bid for president in 2024.
Haley surprised everyone and announced her presidential candidacy on Tuesday after it was assumed that she would announce her campaign launch on Wednesday. Her "special announcement" will be streaming live from Charleston, South Carolina.

"Now is the time for a strong and proud America," Haley tweeted. She launched her campaign run in a video saying it was "time for a new generation."

Haley is set to stump in New Hampshire on Thursday and Friday before heading off to Iowa for a series of town hall-style campaign events. Her start in South Carolina, the No. 1 state on the Democratic primary calendar, highlights the state's emergence as an early battleground for GOP candidates.
