The House Oversight Committee is scheduled to hold its first hearing on Twitter’s efforts to suppress news coverage of the Hunter Biden laptop story ahead of the 2020 election.

Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) will lead the hearing titled “Protecting Speech from Government Interference and Social Media Bias, Part 1: Twitter’s Role in Suppressing the Biden Laptop Story" on Wednesday morning with testimony from three former Twitter employees who had a role in the social media platform's decision to censor reporting from the New York Post on the discovery of Hunter Biden’s laptop. Those who are expected to testify include Vijaya Gadde, Twitter's former legal officer; James Baker, the former deputy general counsel; and Yoel Roth, the former global head of trust and safety.

Shortly after the release of the Hunter Biden laptop story, Twitter officials worked to suppress the story by removing links to the article and posting warnings that it may be “unsafe,” according to the company’s internal communications that were released in December as part of the so-called “Twitter Files.”

Twitter executives cited its “hacked materials” policy in its explanation for removing the story, and said the decision was made at "the highest levels of the company, but without the knowledge of CEO Jack Dorsey."

The hearing is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
