NextImg:No, the United States is not reeling from police brutality

ABC News has a reputation as a left-wing propaganda network. It didn’t do much to shed that reputation heading into Biden’s State of the Union Address. As part of the introductory montage leading into Biden’s speech, a voiceover stated that the country was suffering from police brutality.

That’s just not true.

“With a country reeling from mass shootings and police brutality, President Biden stands before a divided Congress and polarized nation to deliver his vision of the next year,” the opening stated.

But the country is not reeling from police brutality. The death of Tyre Nichols at the hands of Memphis policemen is certainly tragic and, based on the video, requires the justice system to provide punishment to those involved. However, such incidents are not the norm among the country’s police officers. In fact, they are exceedingly rare in police interactions.

Yet, when they occur, the Left, with their accomplices in the media, amplify such incidents as if they were the norm and not the exception.

A recent study verified the rarity of people being killed due to deadly force by police. The study revealed that men have a .05% chance of being killed by police, and that women have a .003% chance. Those figures also include incidents in which people endanger the lives of police officers. None of this even remotely suggests that the country is “reeling from police brutality.”

The only thing the country is reeling from when it comes to our country’s police is anti-police rhetoric, misinformation, and the false narratives that those on the Left continuously repeat. This is agenda-driven propaganda to manipulate public opinion to adhere to left-wing, Democrat political platforms.

If police do something wrong, they should be held accountable. But demonizing all cops for the bad actions of a very small few is wrong. We need the police more than ever amid the current spike in crime, and their entire goal is to abolish them.
