Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley is focusing on beating one president in 2024: Joe Biden.
Haley dodged questions about former President Donald Trump during an interview on "Fox News Sunday," saying she doesn't "focus on President Trump." Both Trump and Haley remain the only GOP candidates to officially declare their campaigns.

“It’s amazing that the media wants to talk about that so much,” Haley said when asked about she differs from the former president. "I am focused on Joe Biden.”
Haley, who has served as the former South Carolina governor and United States ambassador to the United Nations under Trump, has mostly evaded questions about Trump since announcing her candidacy. However, she has underscored the age of candidates, mostly Biden's, as part of her campaign for a new generation of leadership for the Republican Party.
“I think we need new energy going in,” Haley said. “I think we need to leave the status quo of the past and start looking ahead.”
In April 2021, Haley said she would not run if Trump decided to enter the 2024 race.
"I would not run if President Trump ran,” Haley had said. “And I would talk to him about it. That is something that we’ll have a conversation about at some point if that decision is something that has to be made.”
However, Trump welcomed her entry into the GOP candidate pool, saying, "the more, the merrier."
"I’m glad she’s running,” Trump said in an interview with Fox News last week. “I want her to follow her heart — even though she made a commitment that she would never run against who she called the greatest president of her lifetime.”
Despite expressing support for Haley's decision to run for president, his campaign has not been so welcoming. The former president's campaign has already begun launching criticisms at Haley and other potential candidates.
Haley's stance on foreign policy has come under fire as of late, and Trump's campaign issued a scathing rebuke of her track record and accused her of supporting Hillary Clinton and Paul Ryan. Trump called her out on lackluster polling numbers on Truth Social, saying her polling at 1% is "not a bad start."

Haley said that no one asked her about Trump at her launch events in New Hampshire and South Carolina, instead asking about her plans to beat the Biden administration.
“Not one person asked me about President Trump,” Haley said Sunday. “Everybody wanted to talk about Biden.”
