Police found McRae at about 11:30 p.m. local time at an off-campus location Monday. Officers found McRae dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

A tip from a caller helped them identify what the suspect looked like and allowed authorities to release an image of the suspect in a speedy manner, police said Tuesday morning.

This combination of images from surveillance video provided by Michigan State University Police and Public Safety shows a suspect whom authorities are looking for in connection with multiple shootings at the university late Monday, Feb. 13, 2023, in East Lansing, Michigan.

At a press conference Tuesday, authorities confirmed a search was conducted on a residence connected to the suspect in the case.

Authorities did not release any information about the weapon used in the shooting, but they did confirm it has been recovered by police.
